About Winterbrook Falls

A stunning waterfall that drops from the top of a mountain, Winterbrook Falls is a large waterfall situated a Winter Brook. Winter Brook begins life on Fossey Mountains, and gradually flows to join the very powerful River Leven.

The trip to Winterbrook Falls commenced from Smiths Plains Road, south of South Nietta.  Signs along the road will guide you to the car park area of Winterbrook Falls.  The road soon turns to unsealed Forestry Roads, and can be somewhat challenging to drive on when muddy if you do not have a 4WD.  The last 200 metres of the road can be particularly boggy in very wet conditions.  Please note there is active forestry operations within the area and drivers should be cautious of log trucks.

Update - October 2025

A damaged road bridge about 700 metres from the trailhead has been repaired, and you can now drive all the way to the commencement of the track.
